The Dialogue between Prana and Apana

Updated: 6 days ago

Flexibility of the spine is not a yogic research. Expansion of the heart is.

This form is an exploration of the dialogue between complementary energies. Prana and Apana interconnection becomes pretty tangible when you try to arch in #garudasana (Eagle Pose). When we support strongly the only foothold we have, we need a posterior tilt, and there it feels impossible to backbend. I find it interesting to teach bendy people to focus on the heart expansion, rather than arching by compressing the lower back. The interdipendency between expansion/contraction is never so evident. All opposites seem so distant, but one doesn't exclude the other. If I want to open my heart, I need to close somewhere else...

I'll bring this insight and practice to the workshop in Turin @aum_lab on 12 January. To me, there's nothing more useful to the purpose of the practice than the spinal movement awareness + breath connection. You can practice 20 min per day and have a sustainable, present, efficient tool to stand in love with (not fall 🙃). I'm totally neutral in front of all the distractions on social media stressing about so many things I don't know yet or should acquire, because as long as I don't feel pain, move at my rhythm, don't repress my feelings and have space to release tensions... I can say my practice (and life) is amazing. I wish I could see this in front of me more often, and that's why I'm still wearing this yoga messenger suit.

Please, bring your heart to the mat and share your feelings and thoughts too! It's not going to be an academic/oneway session, but pretty interactive 🙏🏽🤍💜✨ #equality #sharing #antihierarchical #noguru #yogapractice #yogaworkshop #eaglebackflip
