Samasthiti: The Embodiment of Remembering Who I Am

Updated: Jun 23

Why going back isn't failing.

In a recent Yoga Therapy session, I drew a parallel between Samasthiti and our recurring states of panic and suffering in life. We all experience this phenomenon. It often feels like the same darkness resurfaces, even after we believe we've moved on and felt healed. New experiences can easily pull us back to that same painful state.

Old pain and obsessive thoughts can become familiar again. Sometimes, these feelings are more intense, despite the efforts we've made. We can become obsessed with the need to purge and eradicate this darkness from our minds. We feel that only then can we deserve happiness.

We've all been experiencing these withdrawals. In the realm of Anthropology, when a phenomenon transcends gender, cultures, and time, it's considered a trait of human nature—an intrinsic part of who we are.

If this is indeed our nature, it’s not just me and Karen making poor choices. I surrender to this reality. If it's our essence, there must be some nourishment in that. Perhaps that suffering is not merely a crisis moment. Maybe, it's the matrix—the starting point where we need to return in order to STOP, PAUSE, and DISCERN what truly resonates with us.

Amid all the stimuli and distractions, we need to reconnect with ourselves. This connection helps us adjust the intensity of life to our frequency. These recurring states can be likened to Samasthiti. Each time we return to this state, we gather our energy and intentions. We choose our next steps with greater awareness.

Grounding ourselves allows us to connect more deeply to our inner force. So, when cyclical suffering halts our momentum, we aren’t the same, even if we feel stuck in the same situation. We can choose to respond differently. This decision enables us to navigate life with a new consciousness.

Don’t feel stuck every time you encounter the same darkness. Instead, view it as a return to Samasthiti—a space where you can collect yourself and prepare for your unique move. Your foundation lies in that darkness. Is it dark?

Yes, it is. But remember, darkness is the void where everything is possible. It holds no borders and no definitions. In that limitless space, you can become whoever you want to be.

Conclusion: The Power of Choice

Ultimately, our choice makes the difference. Each time we face darkness, we have an opportunity to choose a new direction. Let’s remember that these experiences can lead to profound personal growth. Just like Samasthiti, the foundation we cultivate during these times can be the source of our strength and resilience.

Through overcoming these struggles, we can step into the world with renewed purpose and confidence. Embracing the darkness allows for transformation, fostering our unique journey towards healing and happiness.
